A new set of accusations claims that the stepmom of Emrik Osuna, a nine-year-old found dead in Idaho, horrifically tortured him and fed him only rice and water.
Last week Tuesday, Emrik Osuna was discovered without a pulse in an apartment in Meridian. He was covered in bruises and vomit.
First responders attempted to revive him, but his heart was not beating, and he appeared to be malnourished with vomit coming out of his mouth. He later died in the pediatric ICU at St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center.
Prosecutors allege that he suffered extreme neglect and torture at the hands of his stepmother, Monique Osuna, 27.
Tamara Kelly, the prosecutor, stated that Monique Osuna admitted to torturing Emrik by locking him in a small closet at night, withholding food, and subjecting him to physical punishments while she worked.
Kelly also detailed the extensive bruises on Emrik’s body and the use of objects like a frying pan, belt, and dog leash to beat him.
It was revealed that Emrik’s dad, Erik Osuna, informed investigators that the boy was only given rice and water in the weeks leading up to his death.
During the recent hearing, it was revealed that detectives found messages from Emrik’s father to his stepmother suggesting that the boy needed to be taken to the hospital.
The court case is ongoing.
