Barcelona Femeni’s successful campaign has led to the nomination of Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or.
On Wednesday evening, September 6, the French Football organizers revealed the 30-member shortlist, including the Nigerian among the nominees.
Oshoala aims to clinch the award, competing against 29 players, including Women’s World Cup winner Aitana Bonmati.
She emerged as a Champions League victor and was also part of the Nigerian team that exited in the round of 16 at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand last month.
The 28-year-old played a key role in securing her team’s Primera Division triumph last term and contributed to their victory in the Supercopa de Espana Femenina, completing a historic treble. She scored 21 league goals in 28 games last term.
