Ben Stiller was born Benjamin Edward MearaStiller on November 30, 1965 in New York. His parents were juggernauts in the entertainment industry. Raised in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, he was able to begin his acting career around the age of nine when he landed a role on the short-lived television series Kate McShane . He then performed with NYC’s First All Children’s Theater, where he played several roles.
Stiller received his schooling at the Cathedral School of St. John the Divine but graduated from the Calhoun School in New York. He then enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles for further studies, but quit after only nine months to start his career. He soon landed a small role in the TV show Exemplar (aired 1952-2009) and Broadway theater production The House of Blue Leaves.
Ben Stiller’s big break in the industry came after he starred in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun in 1987. He then joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and cast member, but later decided to leave the show due to creative differences. This prompted him to start his own satirical talk show The Ben Stiller Show alongside fellow comedians such as Janeane Garofalo, Andy Dick and Jeff Khan. The show ran 13 episodes before being canceled in 1992.

Ben Stiller was previously married to Christine Taylor, an actress whose notable work was Marcia Brady in the film The Brady Bunch (1995). The two first met on the set of Heat Vision and Jack in 1998. After dating for a while, they tied the knot in May 2000 in Kauai, Hawaii. Their union was blessed with two children; Ella Olivia Stiller and Quinlin Dempsey Stiller before their split in 2017.
