BIOGRAPHY
Billy Crystal began his acting career in television series, and quickly adopted his specialty: comedic roles. With Soap (1977-1981), he acquired a certain fame and landed his first film role in Rabbit Test by Joan Rivers (1978).
Thanks to the show Saturday Night Live (1984-1985), the actor became a real star. He continued his parody films, moving from mockumentary rock with Spinal Tap ( Rob Reiner , 1984) to action with Two Cops in Chicago ( Peter Hyams , 1986), his first leading role. Rob Reiner ‘s romantic comedy , When Harry Met Sally , reveals this to the general public.
Billy Crystal then diversified his activities, becoming a director with Mr. Saturday Night (1992), while he had already been a screenwriter and producer for Henry Winkler ‘s Funny Confidences . His notoriety allowed him to film with Woody Allen in Harry in All His States (1998) and alongside Robert De Niro in Mafia Blues by Harold Ramis in 1999. Since then, he has accumulated headlines with Couple of Stars by Joe Roth in 2001 and Monsters & Co. by David Silverman & Pete Docter , in 2002. The following year, Billy Crystal starred in Blues Mafia 2 – The Relapse , in which he reprized his role as a psychiatrist. Passionate about theater and baseball, the actor then became much rarer in the cinema. After the sequel to Mafia Blues , he lent his voice to Howl’s Moving Castle in 2004 and Pixar ‘s essential Cars in 2006. The year 2010 marked his return to cinema, still in the comedy genre, with Tooth Fairy , in which he appears alongside Dwayne Johnson , aka The Rock
