Cole Palmer: My desire was always to stay at Man City

Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday, Chelsea striker Cole Palmer revealed that he never intended to leave Manchester City last season despite his move to Chelsea after achieving the Treble with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Palmer, who has scored eight goals and provided four assists so far, expressed his original plan to go on loan for a year and then return to be ready for the first team at Man City. However, he was informed by the club that he could not go on loan and was given the choice to either stay or be sold.

Ultimately, Chelsea made an offer and Palmer decided to join the club, stating, “My intention was never to leave City. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back and be ready for the first team. But they said I couldn’t go on loan, either stay or you get sold. So then, Chelsea rang me. I said I wanted to go to Chelsea and I’m really happy to be here. I’m very glad I made the decision to come here.”
