Andre Onana, the goalkeeper of Manchester United, has admitted he was fortunate to escape a late penalty shout during their 1-0 victory over Wolves on Monday night.
A goal from Raphael Varane in the second half secured maximum points for the Red Devils.
However, Erik ten Hag’s team relied on luck in the final moments of the match at Old Trafford.
In stoppage time, Onana, who was making his competitive debut for United, managed to avoid punishment when he awkwardly collided with Wolves substitute Sasa Kalajdzic.
Fans and pundits were surprised that neither referee Simon Hooper nor VAR deemed the incident deserving of a penalty kick.
Speaking after the game, Onana suggested that he would not have complained if a penalty had been given after the clash.
He stated: “I made the decision and I am responsible for everything, there was contact between two large individuals.”
