The arrest of a female teacher has been made after allegations of raping a student in exchange for improved grades. Lena Stewart, a 26-year-old teacher at Nixa High School in Missouri, USA, faces charges including second-degree statutory sodomy, statutory rape, sexual contact with a student, and sexual misconduct.
The charges are linked to incidents dating back to October 2022, when the student was 16 years old. The legal age of sexual consent in Missouri is 17. The student claimed that Stewart showed favoritism towards him in class, leading him to believe that his grades would suffer if he did not comply with her sexual requests.
A police statement revealed details of the alleged encounters between Stewart and the student. The Nixa School District placed Stewart on administrative leave in December 2022, following the allegations. Education authority spokesman Zac Rantz stated that the district takes any allegations of misconduct seriously, and they will cooperate fully with the authorities as the investigation continues.
