BIOGRAPHY
Hope Davis turned to comedy at a very young age. With her childhood friend, Mira Sorvino , she used to improvise small plays for the neighborhood. They separated when she left for London to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Mira Sorvino leaving for Beijing to complete her Mandarin training.

Hope returned to New York as soon as she finished her studies and then devoted herself fully to her acting career. She notably played in numerous plays, in which she obtained a certain fame and began in the cinema with short appearances (first The Forbidden Experience , then Maman, I missed the plane ). She was noticed alongside Nicolas Cage in Kiss of Death by Barbet Schroeder then in On the Road to Manhattan alongside Stanley Tucci which launched her film career.

However, the actress is still rare on the big screen. Favoring the theater, she is discreet in the cinema but careful in her choices. Altering small independent films ( Guy , 1997) and large Hollywood productions ( Arlington Road , 1998), she acquired critical success and growing popularity. In 2002 , she played Jack Nicholson ‘s daughter in the Alexander Payne comedy Mr. Schmidt and appeared in American Splendor and Proof .

In 2005, Hope Davis returned alongside Nicolas Cage in The Weather Man before becoming Greg Kinnear ‘s wife in the comedy The Matador . Varying genres, we see her in the biopics Scandalously Famous and Counterfeiter , the dramas An Italian Summer and The Nines , the SF films Real Steel and Greenland , the Marvel Captain America: Civil War (she is Iron Man’s mother! ), the action thriller Joker and the Wes Anderson Asteroid City .

However, it is in the small window that she finds her best roles, as evidenced by her performances in The Newsroom , Allegiance , Wayward Pines , For the People , Love Life , Succession and especially Your Honor. In the latter, Hope slips into the shoes of the determined wife of a formidable mafia boss ( Michael Stuhlbarg ).
