Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez has expressed his frustration with the attitude of his former team-mate Romelu Lukaku, who is planning to join rivals Juventus.
After a loan spell at Inter last season, it was expected that Lukaku might make a permanent move from Chelsea. However, it was later revealed that the Belgian player was in talks with Serie A rivals Juventus, resulting in Inter backing out of negotiations.
Reacting to the ongoing transfer situation, Argentine international Martinez revealed that he was disappointed with Lukaku’s actions, particularly after the 30-year-old ignored his attempts to discuss the matter.
Martinez stated to Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘I was disappointed, it’s the truth. I also tried to call him in those chaotic days, but he never responded, just like he did with my other teammates.
‘After so many years together, after experiencing so much together, I was disappointed.
‘Thankfully, it’s his choice. I wish him the best. But I didn’t expect this attitude.’
Lukaku initially played for Inter permanently from 2019 to 2021 before returning on loan last season. He made 132 appearances for the club, scoring 78 goals. Lukaku helped Inter win the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia, and was part of the team that reached the Champions League final last season.
However, his future remains uncertain as he has been training alone at Chelsea’s Cobham base.
