Ravi Patel is an Indian-born American actor, writer and director, known for his roles in Transformers (2007), Meet the Patels (2014) and Master of None (2015), among others.
Patel started acting after appearing in several nationwide commercials. He was also a host, who was famous for his improvised numbers at lively concerts. The Illinois native, however, took his place after his first TV appearance on The CW’s Easy Money as George Patil.

Ravi Patel was born Ravi Vasant Patel on December 18, 1978, in Freeport, the county seat and largest city of Stephenson County, Illinois. He is the second of two children of Vasant and Champa Patel.
The Patel family was a modest, middle-class family. Ravi’s father, Vasant, worked as a financial consultant, while his mother, Champa, worked as a real estate agent.
Despite being born in Illinois, Ravi Patel grew up in North Carolina’s most populous city, Charlotte. He attended Myers Park High School before going to Economics and International Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001.
After graduating, Patel moved to Los Angeles where he became an investment banker. There, he co-founded This Bar Saves Lives, a nutrition company that produces biography-based, gluten-free and genetically-modified organism snack bars. As the name suggests, the company is also a charity, as it donates a meal package to a child in need with every snack bar sold. Patel also co-founded poker magazine All In.
While running his business, Patel was getting his job done as an emcee. His improvised comedy number during a concert led him to be invited to audition and sign for a major Hollywood agency. This particular job led him to become something of a star in the advertising industry as he appeared in over two dozen commercials in a year.
Patel quit commercials to star in TV shows and movies first appearing in the movie Boys and Girls Guide To Getting Down and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia both in 2006.
Between 2008 and 2009, Patel participated in the “CW Television Network” show called Easy Money as George Patil. This was around the same time he featured in the 2007 sci-fi Transformers and the medical comedy Scrubs. In 2010, he landed the lead role on the FOX Network show Past Life
In 2014, Ravi Patel collaborated with his sister to make an autobiographical documentary titled Meet the Patels. The film, which won the Audience Award at the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival, depicts Ravi’s journey in his quest for the Indian woman.
Since Meet the Patels, which will be the subject of a narrative remake, Patel has worked with Aziz Ansari in Master of None and John Stamos in Grandfathers

Ravi Patel has a sister named Geeta Patel. Geeta, who currently works as a screenwriter and director, is a graduate of Duke University, where she studied Comparative Field Studies. She began her career as an associate writer, working for studios such as Disney and Twentieth Century Fox.
Along with his brother, Geeta co-wrote and directed ‘Meet the Patels’. Among her other projects, she directed episodes of Remembering the Survivor, The Mindy Project, Superstore, Fresh Off the Boat, and Mute.

Ravi Patel is indeed married. He married actress Mahaley Hessam, known for her roles in movies. Easy, The DUFF, and others. The ceremony took place on May 7, 2016. Hessam, now known as Mahaley Patel, was born in Atlanta, Georgia to immigrant parents from Afghanistan.
She attended Emory University in Atlanta before heading to Los Angeles, California where she enrolled at UCLA. It was while at the University of California, Los Angeles that she got her big break in the movie Easy.
