BIOGRAPHY
Very early on attracted by the 7th Art, Jean-Christophe Bouvet studied cinema, but also linguistics and psychoanalysis at Paris VIII University. He took drama lessons at the Edouard VII theater under the aegis of Jean-Laurent Cochet , a famous talent scout who revealed actors like Gérard Depardieu , Fabrice Luchini and Emmanuelle Béart . It was through his studies that he met André Téchiné and Claude Chabrol . These two figures will allow him to enter the industry by giving him assistant jobs on their films. He also honed his talent as an actor by playing small roles.

It was thanks to his friend Paul Vecchiali that he had his first important acting experience with the role of Pierre Lentier, a child murderer in La Machine . This significant experience is only one of five collaborations between the actor and his director who met on the set of Change pas de main in 1975 and are still working together thirty years later in A vot’ bon coeur (2004) . Thirty years during which Jean-Christophe Bouvet had the time to make himself known to the greatest directors, notably reuniting with his two mentors André Téchiné ( I’m not kissing in 1991) and Claude Chabrol ( L’Ivresse du peuple in 2005) during a career that put him on the road to Raoul Ruiz ( Le Borgne , 1980), Cyril Collard ( Les Nuits fauves ) and Sofia Coppola ( Marie-Antoinette ).

Aside from his impressive performance as the tempting Devil in Under the Sun of Satan by Maurice Pialat , Bouvet’s two most famous roles are certainly that of the crooked politician Martoni in The City of Fear and that of General Bertineau, Marion ‘s father Cotillard in Taxi 2 . However, the actor has many radical experiences such as his work with Paul Vecchiali or Jean-Claude Biette ( Le Complexe de Toulon , 1996) and is a figure of a certain auteur cinema, having played with Olivier Assayas ( L’Eau cold , 1994), Jean-Luc Godard ( Our music , 2004) or Philippe Ramos ( Captain Achab, 2007). He has thus exploited his two strings in recent years by playing in comedies ( L’Auberge rouge , Cinéman , La Famille Wolberg ) as well as in more demanding films ( La France , Vénus noire , Belleville Tokyo ).
