Fans of the supernatural drama series, Lost, would be familiar with Matthew Chandler Fox. The man who played Jack Shephard on the hit show. Matthew Fox is an American actor and has participated in a dozen feature films. However, his most prominent acting roles have been featured on television.

Matthew Fox was born on July 14, 1966 and he attended Deerfield Academy for one year as a graduate and graduated in 1984. For college, he attended Columbia University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1989.

Before landing her second major role, Fox starred in another TV series, Haunted in 2002 after Party of Five was canceled after its sixth season. From September 2004 to May 2010, Fox played Dr. Jack Shephard on fan-favorite, critically acclaimed show Lost. He first auditioned for the role of James Ford but series co-creator JJ Abrams thought he was more suited to the role of Jack. For the role, Fox was nominated for a Golden Globe, won the 2005 Satellite Award, and shared the 2006 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role in Lost.
Fox, who after Lost said he was done with TV shows, has appeared in a few movies since. In 2006, he co-starred with Matthew McConaughey in the sports drama We Are Marshall and had a cameo appearance in the 2013 film World War Z, starring Brad Pitt.
While his acting career may have stalled, Matthew finds his other passion in photography. A bonus disc released with The Complete First Series of Lost featured ‘The Art of Matthew Fox’ and showed footage he took of the cast and crew while filming.
