Matthew Fox was born on July 14, 1966 and he attended Deerfield Academy for one year as a graduate and graduated in 1984. For college, he attended Columbia University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1989.

He first auditioned for the role of James Ford but series co-creator JJ Abrams thought he was more suited to the role of Jack. For the role, Fox was nominated for a Golden Globe, won the 2005 Satellite Award, and shared the 2006 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role in Lost.
Fox, who after Lost said he was done with TV shows, has appeared in a few movies since. In 2006, he co-starred with Matthew McConaughey in the sports drama We Are Marshall and had a cameo appearance in the 2013 film World War Z, starring Brad Pitt.
While his acting career may have stalled, Matthew finds his other passion in photography. A bonus disc released with The Complete First Series of Lost featured ‘The Art of Matthew Fox’ and showed footage he took of the cast and crew while filming.
