Speaking after the 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino attributed the loss to his team’s own mistakes.
Wolves secured a two-goal lead through Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty, with Christopher Nkunku pulling one back on his league debut at Molineux.
Pochettino expressed disappointment at the result, stating that his side “deserve much more” but can only point the blame at themselves.
He commented, “We made mistakes. We need to blame ourselves. That is why we didn’t win. We had the chances to score.”
“We are our own enemy. Today, we lost the game”
He added, “We feel very disappointed because I think we deserve much more. This competition wounds you when you are not clinical enough. We created chances. That is why it is so disappointing. We conceded after a few corners and it was really difficult.”
With 22 points, the Blues are currently in 10th place and will face Crystal Palace in their next league clash.
