Chelsea’s head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, has provided insight into the reasons behind his team’s impressive 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in Monday’s Premier League match.
The match saw Cole Palmer score a goal and Nicolas Jackson secure a hat-trick to secure an away victory for Chelsea, effectively ending Tottenham’s unbeaten streak in the league this season.
As a result of this win, Chelsea now sits comfortably in 10th place on the Premier League table, having amassed 15 points from 11 games.
During his post-match press conference, Pochettino explained that the key to Chelsea’s success lay in their ability to force their opponents to make mistakes after conceding an early goal in the first half.
Pochettino stated, “We managed to compel them into making errors, although Tottenham was the stronger team in the first 15 minutes. We are still in the process of building something here. It takes time to face a team brimming with confidence, especially when we had such a poor start to the game.”
“However, we remained composed and ultimately pressured them into making a mistake.”
