Supreme Court: You’ll be hero in Southeast if you release Nnamdi Kanu – COSEYL to Tinubu

The request from the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in order to gain maximum acceptance in the Southeastern region was highlighted in a statement issued by its President General, Goodluck Ibem on Saturday. Ibem expressed confidence that releasing Kanu, who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, would lead to a reduction in the security crisis in the region.

The group also emphasized Tinubu’s previous advocacy for the rule of law and respect for court orders, and urged him to stand by such principles by ensuring Kanu’s release. The statement noted that this action would demonstrate President Tinubu’s commitment to the principles he fought for during the military era.

The call has been made just before the Supreme Court’s scheduled ruling on Kanu’s case, which is set for Friday, December 15.
