UAE lifts visa ban on Nigerian travellers following Tinubu’s intervention

Following successful negotiations between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers has been lifted with immediate effect.

In a statement on Monday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed the historic agreement and announced that both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines will resume flight schedules to and from Nigeria without any further delays.

The agreement stipulates that there will be no immediate payment required by the Nigerian government as part of the restoration of flight activity. In recognition of President Tinubu’s efforts in promoting economic development, an agreed framework has been established, which will attract significant investments from the United Arab Emirates’ government investment arms into multiple sectors of the Nigerian economy, including defense, agriculture, and more.

Furthermore, President Tinubu has successfully negotiated a joint foreign exchange liquidity program, which will be announced in detail in the coming weeks.

In conclusion, President Tinubu expressed his appreciation for the unwavering friendship and commitment of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to fully normalize and elevate relations between the two countries to a level of excellence.

It is worth noting that Tinubu visited the UAE after attending the G-20 Summit in India.
