The famous actress was born Kristen Angela Johnston in Washington DC on November 20, 1967. She came to be the daughter of Rod Johnston, a former Republican Senator in Wisconsin, but the identity of her mother has never been revealed, nor is it known if she is an only child or has other siblings.
During her formative years, Kristen Johnston’s family was forced to relocate to Fox Point, Wisconsin, where she eventually completed her elementary education at St. Eugene’s Catholic Grade School. Kristen Johnston’s addiction was to a prescribed pain reliever known as Vicodin and alcohol. According to the actress, her daily alcohol consumption was a few bottles a day. She later made the conscious decision to enter a rehabilitation facility to seek a solution to her problems.
In one of her recent interviews, the actress confessed that she has been sober for over ten years, despite the difficulties in battling her addiction. She is currently doing her utmost to encourage people to speak up and seek help in dealing with their addictions.
Kristen Johnston has been diagnosed with a medical condition called lupus myelitis – a neurological disorder associated with inflammation of the spinal cord that requires prolonged hospitalization and treatment to recover.
