After being discovered engaging in a compromising act with a prost!tute in his car, a Detroit Police commissioner in the United States has submitted his resignation.
Bryan Ferguson, who previously represented District 1 for the DPBC and chaired Detroit’s police oversight board, announced his resignation on Thursday, July 13 following reports of his involvement with the sex worker.
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, Ferguson stated, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of Detroit in police oversight. After further consideration of the best interests of my family and the Board, I am choosing to resign as District 1 Police Commissioner effective immediately.”
The incident was reportedly witnessed by undercover narcotics agents from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
Captain Jason Bates disclosed that Ferguson had sought assistance from officers at the scene to cover up his actions, stating, “At that time, Mr. Bryan Ferguson stepped out, identified himself as a Detroit police commissioner. A title or position doesn’t make them above the law,” as reported by Fox 2 Detroit.
Responding to the allegations, Ferguson told the Detroit Free Press that it was a “big misunderstanding” and claimed to have “nothing to hide.” He explained that the woman, whom he did not recognize, had approached his truck and “just pulled up right on me.”
“This is rough. This is rough to tell. Because now I’m going to have to have this conversation with my family,” Ferguson expressed.
Ferguson was issued a misdemeanor citation for indecent or obscene conduct involving a sex act with a prost!tute, according to Bates.
