Dad’s charged with attempted murder following shooting incidents involving each other’s daughters in a Florida road-rage clash
Two fathers in Florida have been charged with attempted murder after engaging in a terrifying road rage shootout, resulting in each other’s daughters being wounded, as announced by Florida’s Nassau County Sheriff, Bill Leeper.
Reports indicate that William Hale, 35, and Frank Allison, 43, fired semi-automatic handguns at each other’s vehicles during a high-speed pursuit, culminating in a physical confrontation on the highway.
Hale’s 5-year-old daughter sustained a leg injury while Allison’s 14-year-old daughter suffered a gunshot wound to her back, leading to a collapsed lung.
“What’s scarier than one crazy driver with a gun? Two crazy drivers with a gun. Thankfully, no one was killed in this incident, but it could have very easily turned out that way because two people were acting stupid and let their tempers get the best of them. There could have been two dead kids because of two stupid grown men.”
Sheriff Leeper emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting the potential lethal consequences of the altercation.
The police apprehended the fathers following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire on Highway 1 near Callahan in suburban Jacksonville.
The altercation began after offensive gestures were made towards the Hale car by Jessica, Allison’s wife, as both drivers were observed driving recklessly.
Following an exchange involving a thrown water bottle, Allison, while driving, fired his weapon, inadvertently hitting Hale’s daughter.
After realizing his daughter was injured, Hale retaliated by firing multiple shots from his own handgun, ultimately hitting Allison’s daughter.
Following the shooting, one of the mothers involved called 911 seeking assistance.
Both men were arrested and charged with second-degree attempted murder. They were subsequently released on $150,000 bond each, as per court records.
