Jonathan Majors Faces Consequences as He is Found Guilty of Assaulting His Ex-Girlfriend

Jonathan Majors, the American actor, has suffered significant losses in his career following his conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in March 2023.

Majors, 34, had been rapidly rising in Hollywood, with roles in acclaimed productions such as Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Loki. He had also been poised for the potentially career-defining role of Otis Redding in the biopic Otis and Zelma.

Additionally, he had secured substantial endorsement deals with the US Army and MLB’s Texas Rangers.

However, following his guilty verdict for assault and aggravated harassment, both Disney and Marvel swiftly announced the termination of their professional relationships with Majors.

Despite being acquitted of one count of assault while maintaining his innocence, the repercussions were swift.

Shortly after his initial arrest, the US Army suspended its recruitment campaign featuring Majors, and his talent agency, Entertainment 360, dropped him. He also lost his public relations team at the Lede Company.

Furthermore, Majors was no longer invited as a guest of Valentino to the prestigious Met Gala, and the Texas Rangers terminated their advertising deal with him. He was also dropped from the upcoming film, The Man in My Basement, and removed from consideration for the Otis and Zelma biopic.

Even his film Magazine Dreams, which had garnered acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, faced setbacks as Disney-owned distributor Searchlight Pictures removed it from the release calendar ahead of his trial.

Majors’ prospective future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was also jeopardized as he faced being recast from his role as Kang in the planned Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. His affiliation with the Gotham Film and Media Institute board and the Sidney Poitier initiative has also reportedly been terminated.

Majors, known for his roles in The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Devotion, and Da 5 Bloods, now awaits sentencing scheduled for Feb. 6, with the potential of up to a year in jail for the assault conviction.
